The attention of the National AIDS Commission and the National AIDS and STIs Control Program has been drawn to recent reports relative to the stock out of HIV medication at major health facilities across the County. The Commission and the NACP would like to assure all those affected by this stock out that all is being done to address the problem.
The recent stock out of HIV commodities was as a result of negotiations which were held with key stake holders of the supply chain system to ensure that private health facilities were included on the list of facilities to be supplied. This issue was resolved last week and distribution has since begun.
To date, the CMS and NDS have supplied HIV drugs to the John F. Kenndy Medical Center, ELWA Hospital, and TB Annex.
We are also aware that some facilities (such as the Home of Dignity) were partially supplied while others are still experiencing stock out.
Once again, we regret this incident and we want to use this medium to assure all those concerned that the Government and her partners have taken all necessary steps to ensure that all HIV treatment sites are supplied with HIV drugs within the soonest possible time.
Henceforth, we highly encourage People Living with HIV and AIDS to begin seeking treatment at the various Hospitals mentioned above.
